Mark Montgomery recently participated in the Florida State League All-Star game as member of the North squad representing the Tampa Yankees. Montgomery garnered the selection by appearing in 23 games thus far with a 4-1 record, 10 saves, a miniscule ERA of 1.14, and a strikeout per nine innings rate of nearly 14 strikeouts. The South won the all-star game 6-3 and Mongomery struggled a little bit giving up two walks and then giving up three runs on one hit, he did however strike out two in his two thirds inning of work.
Montgomery is getting many comparison to current Yankee David Robertson. Look for the Lancer alum to be called up to AA Trenton of the Eastern League in the near future. Montgomery was even recently profiled as the YES Network’s prospect for the month of June, which you can read HERE.
Congrats to Mark! We look forward to his continued pursuit of getting to the big leagues.
