Antwan Carter has signed his first professional contract to play in the Dutch league for Stepco BS Weert. Longwood’s all-time leading scorer follows on the footsteps of 2007 graduate Maurice Sumter who also played in the Dutch league for a couple of years after leaving Longwood. Stepco BSW is coached by former long-time Towson assistant Jim Meil and went 5-27 his first season at the helm. Meil replaced former NBA player Terence Stansbury.
Right now, Stepco BSW only has two other players from America and both come from University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Those two players are Bryquis Perine and Rahmon Fletcher. Currently the Dutch League features ten teams throughout Holland. The league will begin play in October. Stepco BSW has not won the league’s championship since 1994.
Carter will also match up with former teammate Jan Van der Kooij who will suit up for Dutch League rival the Den Helder Kings.
Good luck to Antwan and his future endeavors in the game!
