Lancers Embarrassed by Rivals

January 23, 2013 — 5 Comments

Longwood stepped onto the court with another struggling program on Tuesday night and got straight up embarrassed at the hands of Liberty.  Longwood fans traveled well to Lynchburg to watch their team and were louder than the home fans for most of the evening. It’s a shame so many of these fans had to leave the arena in embarrassment.

Nik Brown missed his second straight game with a concussion and his availability this Saturday versus Presbyterian is unknown. Also, TT Carey did not start the game but was inserted after the first media timeout. Its not clear why Carey was benched for the first portion of the game.

Longwood played a tight first half and Liberty tried to pull away at the latter portion. Longwood cut the lead to six going into halftime but were totally manhandled in the second half and lost the game 74-47.

Frustration is boiling over and there really isn’t much to say at this point…

  1. They have to finish at the basket. They are missing too many easy shots at the basket. A shooting percentage every game near 30 percent will win you nothing. Woodhouse is doing a really nice job at point and Robinson can be relied on I believe. The others like Kessens, Dublin, and even Carey need to step up their game. I know 2 of them are young, but they have seen enough action to start being more consistent. PC might be their first conference win and could springboard them to better results the rest of the way. I will be watching.

    • Yea Kessens had a rough night, sometimes it seems like Woodhouse’s passes are too good for him haha.

The sad state of affairs right now is many fans don’t want to see this team “springboard”, many want change and have for awhile and an under 5 win season would have to be the catalyst for that change. Not my personal view, but still the view of many.

      • Woodhouse can play…..Kessens is a poptart. Those two little white PGs from Liberty were killing us on the drive and he let them get uncontested layups at will. Someone 6″9 should be dominating in this conference and especially down low and Kessens has been playing beyond soft….

  2. Change might be inevitable this year. Don’t won’t this team to just have a throw away season. There is talent at Longwood. If they can run a bit more and get some more easy baskets that even they cannot miss, they may be able to take some positive things from this season. I really do think PC will be a nice shot in the arm for the team. Isn’t 1 win a steak? I know not really, but it could be a start. I really do enjoy reading the candidness of this blog. It is realworld and gives solid remedies to the problems we all see when we watch the team play. Keep up the good work blog master.

It goes back to coaching no matter how you put it. Its not a freshman player’s job just to outright adjust on the fly. Who knows what Kessens was being told to begin with?
