Longwood Gets Even With the Camels 79-66

Road Trip!!!! to the Creek…

Longwood remained hot in the Big South taking down Campbell 79-66 in Buies Creek. It was the Lancers fourth conference win in their last five Big South contest. LU avenged an earlier 83-73 loss to Campbell in Farmville.

I made the trip to Buies Creek from Richmond to catch the Lancers game and it was well worth seeing six guys gel together and really playing their best basketball of the year!

When I arrived in “the Creek” (my favorite Big South arena), it was apparent that I was ready for the Lucas Woodhouse Show. Woodhouse had a career game with 20 points and 8 assists. Michael Kessens also added 22 points on the evening and Jeylani Dublin and Karl Ziegler combined for 29 points. The all-around scoring production from unexpected places was needed as TT Carey only had 4 points tonight after averaging 31 points per game in his last three games.

In one of the more bizarre stats of the season, TT Carey had zero points at the half and Michael Kessens had zero rebounds despite a one point lead for the Lancers.

Campbell was lead by Andrew Ryan with 16 points, but the whole team looked extremely flat all evening.

Longwood will now look to finish the regular season hot with a road trip to Lexington, Virginia to take on VMI. The Lancers now have an outside shot at the number four seed in the conference tournament for the North. Time for another LancersBlog road trip!

  1. Great team effort by the Lancers to win this one. Outstanding game for Woodhouse! Congrats to him on setting a new Longwood season assist record (not bad for a freshman who has started less than half the games).
