Archives For General News

The latest news on general topics regarding Lancers Athletics.

Last year, before basketball season, we were presented with the opportunity to become a beta program for ProBoards. We enjoyed the new and enhanced message board, as it gives us many capabilities as a community that you usually would have to pay for. Unfortunately we have to move from the Beta program to the new LancersBlog board which looks and functions exactly the same.

We originally planned this move for July 1, but with all of the continuing men’s basketball and spring sports postseason news we have decided to rip the band-aid off in a group decision. The link to the message board has now changed and we’ve carried over some topics that are still pertinent. You will have to recreate your account, which I apologize for (some may still have an account from the old board that carries over).

We appreciate everyone’s participation and look forward to a bright future. At the very least this eliminates the negative posts as we turn the corner into a new regime and program, in terms of basketball.

The message board URL is now: http://lancersblog.proboards.com/

Please feel free to email us with any questions.

As we’ve said many times, LancersBlog is an open community for all Longwood fans. We’ve grown tremendously over the past 14 months and we’d like to thank everyone who visits the site on a regular basis. It is great to see so many people excited and passionate about Longwood athletics!

Part of being an open community is inviting multiple voices. We’ve invited anyone that wants to post on the site to do so and we will continue this community format into the future.

With that being said, if anyone is interested in contributing LancersBlog on a regular basis then please feel free to email us (LUlancersblog@gmail.com). We have some exciting updates that will go into effect over the summer and it will open up an opportunity for the whole community. People that have contributed to the site have received LancersBlog gear and other resources at the very least.

We’re open to any idea for the site and certainly are not just looking for basketball content or strict game recaps. This is intended to be a fun, creative, open forum for everyone.

Please feel free to give us a ring at any time if you’re looking to voice your passion for LU!

Stadium Journey’s Willett Hall/Lancer Lunatics Review

You know you’ve made it big when you’re enshrined as a bobblehead. Congrats Jerome!

Longwood will welcome in-state rival Radford Saturday for a 2PM tip in Willett Hall. The game will mark Longwood basketball’s annual Alumni Day where all Longwood alumni are invited back to partake in the day’s events.

Twenty or so former Lancers players will return to play in an alumni game at 11AM, including former NBA star Jerome Kersey. Last year Longwood gave away Elwood bobbleheads for Alumni Day but this year the giveaway will Jerome Kersey bobbleheads.

Beginning at 1PM the new Bedford atrium will be opened to all alumni for a pregame social. The social will include free appetizers and discounted drinks for all alumni and guests. Also, be sure to get your tickets for Saturday’s game early, the last two home games have had over 1,400 fans and Radford is sure to be a bigger draw.

You can buy your tickets in advance and learn more about Alumni Day HERE
